Welcome!
What is the UCS?
The Universal Card Set (UCS) is a project dedicated to providing high-quality and up-to-date Power Cards for Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition players. By providing a standardized format for the game files, we hope to provide end-users more options in card format and styling while allowing the card developers to share the workload of keeping the cards up to date.
Where do I get the latest version?
The latest versions of all the 4E Development projects are available on the Downloads page.
How do I use the UCS?
Visit the Getting Started page for more details.
Where do I get new card templates for the UCS?
All templates available for the UCS will be hosted on the toosigma.com website at least until such time as we find a more permanent solution. To install a new template, simply follow these instructions:
- Download the template zip file from the website
- Unzip the template (using something like Winzip or 7-zip)
- Copy the template directory into your MSE data directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Magic Set Editor 2\data)
- Once the template is installed, open your existing mse-set file
- Click the Style button on the toolbar
- Choose the new style from the list
Note - from what I can tell, the MSE-SET automatically adds new templates as long as they have been designed for the UCS (that is, they start with a directory name of '4E-UCS'). Users will need to keep both their template-of-choice, MSE-SET and the UCS up to date to gain the latest advantages of the UCS, but do not otherwise need to update anything.
How do I create my own UCS set?
- Adding cards via the Magic Set Editor GUI
- Adding cards via manual text-manipulation of the set
- Adding cards via auto-generator scripts (like Hirahito's flat-file script)
- Adding cards via XML/SQL database scripts

- Documentation - We're can always use some help keeping the documentation up to date and keeping the wiki a good source of information. Just create an account and edit anything you think needs attention.
- Beta Tester - If you like to live on the bleeding edge, you can download the latest Beta version of the UCS, and provide any feedback on the UCS-Bugtrack page.
- Card Entry - We're still discussing how to go about crowd-sourcing the data-entry aspects of the UCS. If you'd like to help contribute, please visit the forum and chime in with any ideas. UCS-Card Entry
