Session Logs
- Session #1 -
Background
- Grew up on the Confederate stronghold world of Sullust - family is one of the few that supported the Republic, but kept their sympathies hidden.
- Attended University studying to become a Starship Engineer - showed exceptional talent and was fast tracked to be inducted into SoroSuub's engineering team
- His older sister, Lira Varal, was a powerful Jedi Knight who was killed in the execution of Order 66. Her death proved the catalyst that sent Riet away from university and into the fringe
- Riet met Kyp Rossik (Lira's Padawan) on Coruscant and became friends (?) - they establish a complicated method of exchanging messages over the Holonet to keep in touch. After Order 66, they use that system to get in contact, and Kyp and (Josh's Character) begin traveling together.
- While he first left Sullust in anger over the fall of the Republic without much direction (an atypical response for the normally calm and careful Sullustan), he harbors quiet feelings of rebellion, and would be very interested in joining any group that works against the nascent Empire
- Makes his living providing repair services to a variety of freighter captains - met Valee Keelma during this time and they become friends
Goals:
- Make enough money to buy his own ship
- Create a custom design starship
- Finish his education
- Work against the Galactic Empire
Potential Hooks:
- His mechanical skills will likely come in handy for the armor-wearing characters (Josh / Daken), as well as his friend Valee
- Has a keen mind and a strong moral sense - likely to accept jobs/missions without thinking about the money if it's for a good cause
Notes:
- Mutters and swears to himself in Sullustese whenever he's working on a "patient" (whether living or mechanical)
- Very careful and risk averse - he's the type who prefers to have every last detail planned out and every contingency accounted for.
- Prefers not to let on that he is an exceptional linguist - will stick to Sullustese and broken Basic if he can

Open Questions:
- Engineer talent taken at Level 1 through special GM dispensation. Educated talent must be taken by Level 3 to fulfill requirements.
NPCs
- Lira Varal - Older sister, chosen to become a Jedi before he was born, but she returns to visit on occasion. An exceptional lightsaber adept, she achieved the rank of Jedi Knight, and was on the verge of being promoted to Jedi Master before Order 66 claimed her life. Her skills did prove sufficient to occupy the majority of the clone troopers in her vicinity, allowing her Padawan, Kyp Rossik to escape relatively unscathed.
- Bria Varal - Mother, was a famous Jedi Healer/Jedi Master and served on Sullust for many years prior to the Clone Wars. Always a little disappointed that Riet never showed any Force potential. When the war broke out and Sullust cast its lot with the Confederation, Bria returned to the Jedi Temple to work in the infirmary, where she eventually met her end at the hands of Darth Vader.
- Jin Varal - Father, an outspoken opponent to SoroSuub's decision to join the Confederation, his loyalty remained steadfast to the Republic. His connections high up in the SoroSuub corporation managed to keep him alive throughout the war and after the declaration of the Empire. The shock of Order 66 brought his activism to a much quieter level, and he continues to live and work on Sullust
- Nien Penf - Genius starship designer and Riet's mentor throughout university. Nien was always a supporter of the Confederation, though, and this led to numerous friendly disagreements over politics. After the end of the war, Nien still harbors some resentment against the Empire
- K'tikit Korpil - Verpine classmate at university, the true prodigy of his class
- Clone Trooper/Starship captain in charge of bringing Sullust back into the republic (martial law?), dedicated to hunting Riet down for his Jedi sympathies, though probably more to return him to Sullust where he can be made into an example rather than killed
- Human starship designer - possibly for Kuat Drive Yards or Sienar Fleet Systems, rival classmate (Lord Eric Santhe of SFS?)
- Crime boss - Riet got into a bad deal (slavery? drug smuggling?) and managed to piss off the wrong element
