Background

- Several ex-boyfriends, one was a long-term relationship (David Wright), still has one of his sweatshirts that she likes to jog in - has a difficult time keeping boyfriends because she tends to be distant and unavailable, spending too much time working, and her brilliance tends to make most men uncomfortable
- Mother (Sarah Porter) died of ovarian cancer when she was 17, galvanized her resolve to become a doctor, Sarah also convinced Jason to tell Erica about her abilities and the real purpose of the neurosuppressant she had been taking for years
- Is a workaholic, but loves to go out partying, devoting herself fully to every endeavor - drinks beer preferentially, and can drink a lot for her size, but she typically keeps herself under control - also likes to dance, but typically only does so when her girlfriends are present unless she meets a guy she really likes
- After her tour in Thailand, she devotes herself to self-defense courses (Aikido and street-techniques), and begins researching unexplained phenomena
- Is a decent shot with a pistol, but isn't nearly so good with other weapons
- Has never killed anyone in anger, may have difficulty doing so
- Attracted to strong, assertive men - though she has difficulty maintaining the relationship if he doesn't have additional qualities (high intelligence, sense of humor) - doesn't appreciate blow-hards or braggarts, she will usually press any psychological buttons to bend or break any "peacocks" - the calm, quiet, self-assured type are much more impressive
- Trust - she is a born skeptic, prefers to find her own answers, and ask her own questions - will make some allowances for authority figures, but isn't above "checking up" on them - once her trust is earned (no small feat) it is typically unshakable, hence her continued friendship with Ally

- Emotionally naive - despite all her knowledge and expertise, she has difficulty applying that knowledge to her own feelings
- Has seen a lot of blood and the results of violence in her experience as an EMT, and thus tends to be very jaded about violence in general, but will undoubtedly have difficulty coming to terms with being the cause of that violence (she has sufficient training to hurt and/or kill others, but will have to do some soul-searching when it happens)
- Appearance - 5'4", 110 lbs - skinny, medium-length, stringy brown hair that is usually unkempt and held up by bands, thin metal-frame glasses (20/80), stern brown eyes, plain but not unattractive facial features - wardrobe is typically utliitarian - prefers jeans and tshirt to dresses, BDUs to dress uniform - always wears a cross on a gold chain around her neck
- Religion - Sarah was religious, but with all her scientific background, Erica's faith isn't rock-solid. She still attends whenever she can, and is a strongly moral person, but not a devout worshipper
