Milestone reached
Today was exceptionally exciting because I finally got back to benching plates (two 45-pound weights, on either side of the barbell, for the uninitiated). Nothing really special about it really, except I felt really weak and pitiful putting only the 35s on. Now I just have to get back to the point where I put both the 45s and the 35s on. <sigh> I’ll get there eventually
Also talked to my high school swimming coach about a new diet, and I’ve discovered that I don’t eat nearly enough. For some reason, being six foot one and two-hundred-odd pounds, I shouldn’t be subsisting on an average of 800-1200 calories per day. Granted I’ll occasionally have a 4000-calorie meal (gotta love Godfather’s Pizza buffet style), but the combination of low intake and occasional binge-ing has probably led to more than a few gained pounds. Now the trick is, how to squeeze all this extra food into my already straining budget.
I’ve also discovered that working computer tech support is one of the biggest ego-boosts you can possibly enjoy. Why? Because you realize that you really are smarter (at least in some areas) than a substantial fraction of the population. I really think that Tech warped me into thinking I was stupid somehow, which is only now beginning to wear off.
I spent nearly 15 hours playing Dark Cloud 2 this weekend without advancing the storyline one whit. Sounds kinda discouraging, but there really are that many interesting side-quests to explore. Part of me still yearns to get out amongst real people, but I’m still struggling to find someplace where I won’t feel like a hypocrite (church) or feel completely out of place (bars). There just aren’t really other options, at least from what I can discover.
